Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education

Wenatchee School District's Deaf and Hard of Hearing program provides services for students who qualify in the area of hearing loss or deafness for students identified from Preschool through High School, or age 22, depending on the individual student's needs.


A decision on a student's placement is decided after receiving input from the parents and the academic team during an IEP meeting. Students are placed in an environment that best supports their needs. All factors are taken into consideration - assistive technology, interpreters, and being with their hearing and d/hh peers. If your child uses American Sign Language, Listening and Spoken Language, or a combination, Wenatchee is committed to providing accommodations that work best for your child. 


Our philosophy is to work with families and others as a team to assess each student's individual needs and design a program that allows maximum growth and success for the students.

Student and Family Connections

At Wenatchee School District, we believe Deaf and Hard of Hearing students thrive when they have meaningful connections — with peers, with their families, and with Deaf adult role models who reflect their experience and their potential.

Field Trips
Throughout the year, our students participate in field trips that go beyond the classroom, many of which bring together students from neighboring districts, creating valuable opportunities for peer connection and shared experiences.

Family Nights
Every other month, we host Family Nights at Castle Rock Early Learning Center welcoming local and regional presenters and organizations to share knowledge, resources, and community with our Deaf and Hard of Hearing families. All communication modes are welcome. Watch for upcoming dates, and we hope to see you there.
