District Policies and Procedures
Wenatchee School District has multiple policies and procedures in place to limit immigration enforcement on school grounds and protect students' rights.
-
WSD Policy 4300 aims to limit immigration enforcement at schools to ensure all students can access education, regardless of immigration status. The policy applies to all school facilities and adjacent areas.
-
Details how to handle interviews and interrogations on school premises, emphasizing that immigration agents must be denied immediate access. The procedure specifies that if an immigration agent requests access to a student or school site, staff must deny access, alert the principal, and forward the request to the Superintendent and/or General Counsel.
-
This policy discourages student interviews and interrogations at school, except in specific cases, like investigations of child abuse or other serious crimes. The district has a constitutional obligation to educate all students regardless of a student’s or parent's immigration status, and staff will not grant access to immigration agents without approval from the Superintendent or General Counsel.

Athletics
Are practices/games still protected by school policies and procedures limiting the access of immigration officials?
Our policies and procedures are in effect during all extracurricular activities that occur on district property.
If my son or daughter is at an away game, does our policy/ procedure extend to that event?
For events at other school districts, the home district’s policy and existing state law in which the policy is based upon are in effect. Therefore, there are the same protections for those districts as there are in our district, even if their policy is not as up-to-date as ours
Field Trips
Do I have assurance that when my son/daughter goes off campus, that the policy procedure extends to that event?
Our policies and procedures are in effect during all extracurricular activities that occur on district property. Events that occur in public locations are not protected by these policies and procedures.
If the field trip is part of a class but I don't feel comfortable sending my student what will the learning impact be?
We will work with your child’s teacher to ensure that there is no negative impact on their grade.
Walk Home
Where do school policies and procedures end?
Our policies and procedures end when the student leaves the school district facilities, which include (but are not limited to) adjacent sidewalks, parking areas, sports facilities, playgrounds, and entrances and exits from said building spaces.
Where can I and where can my student get information regarding what their rights are if approached while walking home?
