Transition to Kindergarten (TK) Enrollment
Is your 4-year-old getting ready for kindergarten next year? TK is a free program that gives children extra time to build confidence and skills before starting kindergarten. It's perfect for families who aren't currently enrolled in another preschool program.
Where Can My Child Attend TK?
TK is offered at three of our elementary schools:
- Mission View Elementary
- Newbery Elementary
Your child can attend TK at the school in your neighborhood boundary. Not sure which school that is? We can help! Check our boundary map or give us a call at (509) 663-8161.
How Do I Enroll My Child?
It's easy! Here's what to do:
1. Reach Out to Your School Contact the elementary school in your boundary and let them know you're interested in TK for your child. They'll talk with you about whether it might be a good fit.
2. Simple Screening The school's family advocate will spend time with your child doing some friendly activities to see how we can best support them. With only 15 spots per class, we want to make sure TK goes to the families who need it most.
3. Complete Registration Once the school confirms your child is eligible, you'll register them just like any new WSD student. We'll walk you through it!
What If My Child is Already in Preschool?
At Castle Rock Preschool? If your child has an IEP, you and the IEP team will decide together which program is the best fit.
At another preschool? (Head Start, ECEAP, private preschool, or daycare) Since your child is already in an early learning program, TK isn't available—but that's great! They're already getting the preparation they need.
Questions?
We know navigating preschool options can feel overwhelming! Call our Early Learning Department for help. We're happy to chat and help you figure out what's best for your little one.

Welcome Private, Charter, and Homeschool Families
We're excited to open our programs to you! Students who are homeschooled or attend private or charter schools are welcome to participate in Wenatchee School District athletics, music, and Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs.
Here's What You Need to Know
To ensure the safety of all students and keep families connected, we ask that all private, charter, and homeschool students complete the enrollment process before joining our programs.
Good News for Student-Athletes: If your student is participating in athletics only, they won't be required to enroll in classes at a WSD school—just complete the enrollment paperwork, and you're on your way to the field, court, or track!
Getting Started
Step 1: Complete Enrollment
All students need to complete our standard student enrollment form and provide the usual supporting documents (just like our full-time students do). This helps us stay connected with families and ensures we have important information for your student's safety.
Step 2: Athletics Clearance (for student-athletes)
Once your student's registration has been processed, you'll need to complete an athletics clearance process through Final Forms before your student can practice or compete. This ensures all health and safety requirements are met.
